What Happened after God’s Funeral, Part 1 of 4

Part 2 of 4

Part 3 of 4

Part 4 of 4

What happened after God's funeral hello and welcome to what my people think with apologist and author Ravi Zacharias called the rise of relativism or the death of absolutes but we live in a world set but certain degrees of certainly problems with a accurate sense of reality are many and as Ravi begins with todays message and a fundamental error declaring ourselves to be God lets listen as Ravi begins Luke chapter 12 reading from verse 13 someone in the crowd said to Him teacher tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me Jesus replied who appointed me a judge or arbiter by you then He said watch out be on your guard for all types of greed mans life does not consist of the abundance of his possessions and He told them this parable the ground of a certain rich man produces a good crop he thought to himself what shall I do I have no place to store my crops then he said this is what I will do I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones and there I will store all of my grain and my goods and will say to myself you have plenty of good things laid up for years take life easy eat drink and be merry but God said to him you fool this very night your life will be demanded from you then who will get...

The very heart of every human being is a soul remember when Jesus looked at peter and He said to peter peter whom do the people say that I am and peter gave Him scattered answers Jesus looked at him and said whom do you say that I am that is the point of Jesus' question peter looked at Him and said Jesus you are the Christ Son of the living God Jesus looked at him complementarily and said blessed are thou simon son of jonah for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father who is in Heaven what he really said is this has not come to you by way of man it has come to you by way of God and then it said as soon as peter had made that recognition it says from that moment on I think it is pivotal from that moment on Jesus began to tell them how He must suffer and die that shameful death and as soon as He described His cross bound journey peter looked at Him and said not so Lord and Jesus reverses the compliment into a warning now and says simon you are not listening to the voice of God you are listening to the voice of men and looks at them and says if anyone comes after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me for what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul what will you give says Jesus in exchange for your soul

He moves you and me from the soulishness of man thats why when you see a man binding his enemies wounds you see something soulish about him thats why when you see a helpless orphan rescued you see something soulish about the rescue thats why when we see something noble we think there is something soulish about it it is not merely flesh and blood there is something of a spirit in all of that so if God is dead the body has to be taken as the soul and I don't know how one can live with that to live with a constant sense of contradiction now wasn't it worth coming just to hear that what He is really saying is when soulishness is gone and body is all that is left you live with a constant sense of contradiction and nothing will make sense anymore if God is dead you have to take man to be God if God is dead you have to take the body to be the soul and lastly if God is dead you have to take time to realise there is no eternity your body with be devoured alright so if there is no God than time has to become eternity so if you see a 5 year old killed in a tragic accident it is no more a meaningful a fact that a 95 year old who has died a very natural death because death is the end of all and there is no eternity life becomes completely senseless time becomes eternity but to the man without God there is no hope when my father died in 1979 he had gone in for open heart surgery and the doctors told us he was the perfect candidate and would do very well after the surgery was over and he would be the best he had ever been he was 77 years old then and still working and in very many ways so healthy he drove himself into the hospital I was the last one to speak to him he was quite scared about this surgery and wasn't sure whether he should have really had it as he is wheeled in many hours go by and the appointed time came when the doctor was to come and see us and long after that he gathers us together and says children he is holding a pencil in his hand and he says I don't have very good news for you he said your father something has gone wrong in the surgery he is not doing well I said doctor are you saying my father is dying he said what I am saying to you is he is in very very critical condition

3 or 4 days later 3 in the morning we were all sound asleep my phone rang my sister in law said the doctor just called and I called my younger brother to hurry up and come to the hospital that your dad in not going to survive this night by the time I got there he was already gone my older brother who lived much closer was there and he says this Ravi I was holding onto dads hand as he was hooked up to the machines and his blood pressure was so low he said when I called him by his name for a moment it shot up I don't know whether he registered it or not...
