An all time classic if you've never seen it. A masterpiece to watch again. Devil's Island is in the news again. The French want to reopen it to send 'terrorists.' I think we should sent the politicians there instead. Maybe they'll confess where our monies have gone.

Send our jihadis to Devil's Island! French politician demands Paris reopens 'Papillon' jail for terrorists

Papillon is a 1973 prison film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, based on the best-selling autobiography by the French convict Henri Charrière.

The film stars Steve McQueen as Henri Charrière ("Papillon"), and Dustin Hoffman as Louis Dega. Due to being filmed at remote locations, the film was quite expensive for the time ($12 million), but it readily earned more than twice that in the first year of public distribution. The film's title is French for "Butterfly," referring to Charrière's tattoo and nickname.

Henri "Papillon" Charrière (Steve McQueen), a safecracker, is unjustly convicted of murder (specifically, murdering a pimp) in 1930s France. He is sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious French penal colony on Devil's Island, off the coast of French Guiana. En route he meets a fellow convict, Louis Dega (Dustin Hoffman), a forger and embezzler who is convinced that his wife will secure his release. Dega hires Papillon as his bodyguard, but the two eventually develop a friendship.

After defending Dega against a sadistic guard, Papillon is sentenced to solitary confinement. In gratitude, Dega smuggles extra food to Papillon. When the food smuggling is discovered, prison guards cut Papillon's food rations in half, believing that hunger will force him to reveal the name of his benefactor. Though emaciated and half-insane, and reduced to eating insects to survive, Papillon refuses to snitch on Dega. After two years he is released from solitary confinement, having spent six months in total darkness and on half rations. After being reunited, he and Dega plan to escape.

While recovering in the infirmary, Papillon meets a homosexual orderly named André Maturette (Robert Deman), who insists on joining their escape plot. The prisoners bribe a guard who promises to give them a boat, but Dega breaks his ankle during the escape. After paying the guard and tramping into the jungle, they discover that the boat is unseaworthy. A local trapper, who reveals that the guard has repeatedly cheated prisoners by taking their money and then arranging to have them captured by bounty hunters, kills the waiting bounty hunters. He refers Papillon to a nearby leper colony, where they obtain supplies and a boat.

After reaching the mainland, the trio are accosted by a group of soldiers. The soldiers open fire. Maturette is shot and captured along with Dega, still crippled by his broken ankle. After evading the soldiers, Papillon lives for a long period with a native tribe; one day he awakes to find they have moved on. At a police checkpoint, Papillon pays a nun to join her entourage and goes with her to a convent. Admitting he is a fugitive but stressing that he is not a murderer, Papillon asks the Mother Superior for refuge. She turns him over to the authorities.

As punishment for his escape, Papillon is forced to spend five years in solitary confinement. He has gray hair when released and sees Maturette, who is dying. Papillon is moved to the remote Devil's Island, where he reunites with Dega. From a high cliff, Papillon observes that every seventh wave that comes into a small harbor rebounds from the rocks and is powerful enough to carry him out to sea. Manufacturing two floats, he tries, unsuccessfully, to persuade Dega to come with him. After embracing Dega, Papillon leaps from the cliff and, grasping his float, is carried into the sea.

A narrator states that Papillon lived the rest of his life in freedom. He outlived the prison, which was closed in 1953. The prison is shown abandoned and overgrown by jungle plants.

2022 is not so far away now. This 70's film was timed to RIO Reshaping the International Order a report to the Club of Rome. We were about to enter a food crisis. The GM companies went into overdrive tampering with the food. Overall they are destroying it. In time their soylent yellow will not be appropriate. The only alternative was soylent green. What was soylent green? Soylent green was people. Enjoy this blast from the past lest it be a training film for your future. Charleton Heston was always cutting edge.

Soylent Green is a 1973 American science fiction film directed by Richard Fleischer and starring Charlton Heston and, in his final film, Edward G. Robinson. The film overlays the police procedural and science fiction genres as it depicts the investigation into the murder of a wealthy businessman in a dystopian future suffering from pollution, overpopulation, depleted resources, poverty, dying oceans, and a hot climate due to the greenhouse effect. Much of the population survives on processed food rations, including "soylent green".

The film, which is loosely based upon the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room!, by Harry Harrison, won the Nebula Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film in 1973.

The 20th century's industrialization has left the world permanently overcrowded, polluted and stagnant by the turn of the 21st. In 2022, with 40 million people in New York City alone, housing is dilapidated and overcrowded; homeless people fill the streets; 20 million are unemployed with the few "lucky" ones with jobs scraping by, and food and working technology is scarce. Most of the population survives on rations produced by the Soylent Corporation, whose newest product is Soylent Green, a green wafer advertised to contain "high-energy plankton", more nutritious and palatable than its predecessors "Red" and "Yellow", but in short supply.

New York City Police Department detective Robert Thorn (Charlton Heston) lives with his aged friend Solomon "Sol" Roth (Edward G. Robinson). Roth used to be a somebody, a university professor, but now he helps Thorn's investigations by performing research. Roth routinely waxes nostalgic for his youth when the air was clean and the weather wasn't perpetually summer. While investigating the murder of William R. Simonson, obviously a member of the wealthy elite, Thorn questions Shirl, a concubine (referred to as "furniture"), and Tab Fielding, Simonson's bodyguard, who, when the murder took place, was escorting Shirl to a store selling meat "under the counter" for Simonson. Thorn searches Simonson's apartment for clues and helps himself to some of Simonson's luxurious lifestyle like air conditioning, hot running water, real bourbon, and appropriating a flank steak Shirl had purchased earlier as a special surprise for Simonson.

Thorn later gives Roth the classified Soylent Oceanographic Survey Report, 2015 to 2019 found in Simonson's apartment. Roth's research reveals that Simonson and the current state governor of New York, Joseph Santini, were partners in a well-known high-powered law firm, and that Simonson was also a member of the Board of Soylent.

At the police station, Thorn tells his lieutenant (Hatcher) that he suspects an assassination: nothing was stolen from the apartment, its sophisticated alarm was not working for the first time in two years, and Simonson's bodyguard was conveniently absent. Continuing his investigation, Thorn visits Fielding's apartment and questions Fielding's concubine, Martha, helping herself to a teaspoon of strawberry jam, later identified by Roth as too great a luxury for the concubine of a bodyguard to afford.

Under questioning, Shirl reveals that Simonson became troubled in the days before his death. Thorn questions a Catholic priest that Simonson had visited, but the priest at first fails to remember Simonson and is later unable to describe the confession. Fielding later murders the priest to silence him.

Meanwhile, Governor Santini orders the investigation closed, but Thorn disobeys and the Soylent Corporation dispatches Simonson's murderer to kill Thorn. He tracks Thorn to a ration-distribution where police officers are providing security. When the Soylent Green there is exhausted and the crowd riots, the assassin tries to kill Thorn during the confusion, but is crushed by a "scooper" riot-control vehicle. Then Thorn threatens both Fielding and Martha to scare Fielding out of following him anymore and returns to Shirl, telling her that all cities are like theirs and the more valuable, unharmed countryside is guarded to protect the better-off classes privileges of better food, water and shelter, leaving the majority of people trapped in the cities with no escape.

Roth takes Soylent's oceanographic reports to a like-minded group of researchers known as the Exchange, who agree that the oceans no longer produce the plankton from which Soylent Green is reputedly made, and infer that it must be made from human remains (as this is the only conceivable supply of protein that matches the known production). Unable to live with this discovery, Roth seeks assisted suicide at a government clinic called "Home".

Thorn rushes to stop him, but arrives too late, and is mesmerized by the euthanasia process's visual and musical montage— a display of forests, wild animals, rivers, and ocean life, now extinct. Under the influence of a lethal drug, Roth tells Thorn his discovery and begs him to expose the truth. To this end, Thorn stows himself aboard a garbage truck to the disposal-center, where he sees human corpses converted into Soylent Green. Returning to make his report, he is ambushed by Fielding and others.

He phones his precinct for backup but the precinct is engaged on a priority call. Thorn asks to be connected with Shirl, and to be "cut in" when the precinct is free. Thorn tells Shirl to stay with her apartment's new owner and Shirl tells Thorn she wants to live with him, but the line is "cut in" and Thorn is connected to Hatcher. Thorn retreats into a cathedral filled with homeless people. In the ensuing fight, he kills Fielding but is seriously injured. When the police arrive, Thorn urges Hatcher to spread the word that "Soylent Green is people!"

  • Tales of the Gun - Episode 12: The Guns ...

Tales of the Gun is a television series broadcast on the History Channel featuring the history of firearms that ran for one season in 1998. The usual episode includes interviews of historians and people who used the featured weapon, shows how the weapons were made, and shows the featured weapon being fired on a shooting range. The series narrator for the US version is Thom Pinto, veteran voice actor.

Ep 12: "The Guns of Browning"

John Moses Browning (January 23, 1855[1] – November 26, 1926), born in Ogden, Utah, was an American firearms designer who developed many varieties of military and civilian firearms, cartridges, and gun mechanisms, many of which are still in use around the world.[2] He is regarded as one of the most successful firearms designers of the 20th century, in the development of modern automatic and semi-automatic firearms, and is credited with 128 gun patents.[3] He made his first firearm at age 13 in his father's gun shop, and was awarded his first patent on October 7, 1879 at the age of 24.[4]

Browning influenced nearly all categories of firearms design. He invented or made significant improvements to single-shot, lever-action, and slide-action, rifles and shotguns. His most significant contributions were arguably in the area of autoloading firearms. He developed the first autoloading pistols that were both reliable and compact by inventing the telescoping bolt, integrating the bolt and barrel shroud into what is known as the pistol slide. Browning's telescoping bolt design is now found on nearly every modern semi-automatic pistol, as well as several modern fully automatic weapons. He also developed the first gas-operated machine gun, the Colt-Browning Model 1895—a system that surpassed mechanical recoil operation to become the standard for most high-power self-loading firearm designs worldwide. Browning also made significant contributions to automatic cannon development.

Browning's most successful designs include the M1911 pistol, the Browning Hi Power pistol, the Browning .50 caliber machine gun, the Browning Automatic Rifle, and the Browning Auto-5, a ground-breaking semi-automatic shotgun. These arms are nearly identical today to those assembled by Browning, with only minor changes in detail and cosmetics. Even today, John Browning's guns are still some of the most copied guns in the world.

The Truman Show is a 1998 American satirical comedy-drama film directed by Peter Weir and written by Andrew Niccol. The cast includes Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, as well as Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Ed Harris and Natascha McElhone. The film chronicles the life of a man who is initially unaware that he is living in a constructed reality television show, broadcast around the clock to billions of people across the globe. Truman becomes suspicious of his perceived reality and embarks on a quest to discover the truth about his life.

PlotTruman Burbank (Jim Carrey) lived his entire life, since before birth, in front of cameras for The Truman Show, although he is unaware of this fact. Truman's life is filmed through thousands of hidden cameras, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and broadcast live around the world, allowing executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) to capture Truman's real emotion and human behavior when put in certain situations. Truman's hometown of Seahaven, is a complete set built under a giant arcological dome, populated by the show's actors and crew, allowing Christof to control every aspect of Truman's life, even the weather. To prevent Truman from discovering his false reality, Christof has invented means of dissuading his sense of exploration, including "killing" his father in a storm while on a fishing trip to instill in him a fear of the water, and making many news reports and "commercials" about the dangers of traveling, and featuring television shows about how good it is to stay at home. However, despite Christof's control, Truman has managed to behave in unexpected ways, in particular falling in love with an extra, Sylvia (Natasha McElhone),known to Truman as Lauren, instead of Meryl (Laura Linney), the character intended to be his wife. Though Sylvia is removed from the set quickly, her memory still resonates with him, and he "secretly" thinks of her outside of his marriage to Meryl. Sylvia shortly afterwards becomes part of a "Free Truman" campaign that fights to have Truman freed from the show.

During the 30th year of The Truman Show, Truman begins to notice certain aspects of his near-perfect world that seem out of place, such as a falling spotlight, from the artificial night sky constellations, that nearly hits him (quickly passed off by local radio as an aircraft's dislodged landing light) and Truman's car radio accidentally picking up conversation between the show's crew. As well as these strange one-off occurrences, Truman also becomes aware of more subtle abnormalities within his regular day-to-day life, such as the way in which the same people appear in the same places at certain times each day and Meryl's tendency to blatantly advertise the various products she buys. These events are punctuated by the reappearance of Truman's supposedly "dead" father onto the set, at first dressed as a hobo. The old man is suddenly whisked away as soon as Truman notices him. In a deleted scene Truman gives a sandwich to a wheelchair-bound man and then sees him jogging two days later. When the man denies everything Truman points out he was wearing the same sneakers with the taped initials attached.

Despite the best efforts of his family and his best friend Marlon to reassure him (the latter being fed lines of comforting dialogue by Christof through a wireless earpiece), all these events cause Truman to start wondering about his life, realizing how the world seems to revolve around him. Meryl grows increasingly stressed by the pressure of perpetuating the deception, and their marriage unravels in the face of Truman's increasing skepticism and attendant hostility towards her. Truman seeks to get away from Seahaven but is blocked by the inability to arrange for flights, bus breakdowns, sudden masses of traffic, a forest fire, and an apparent nuclear meltdown -- which he believes until the policeman, whom Truman had never met before, calls him by name. After Meryl breaks down and is taken off the show, Christof officially brings back Truman's father, hoping his presence will keep Truman from trying to leave. However, he only provides a temporary respite: Truman soon becomes isolated and begins staying alone in his basement after Meryl "leaves" him. One night, Truman manages to fool the cameras and escapes the basement undetected via a secret tunnel, forcing Christof to temporarily suspend broadcasting of the show for the first time in its history. This causes a surge in viewership, with many viewers, including Sylvia, cheering on Truman's escape attempt.

Christof orders every actor and crew member to search the town, even breaking the town's daylight cycle to help in the search. They find that Truman has managed to overcome his fear of the water and has been sailing away from the town in a small boat named Santa Maria (the name of the largest of the three ships with which Christopher Columbus sailed to the New World). After restoring the broadcast, Christof orders the show's crew to create a large storm to try to capsize the boat, prompting a heated debate with his superiors over the morality and legality of killing Truman off in front of a live global audience. However, Truman's determination eventually leads Christof to terminate the storm. As Truman recovers, the boat reaches the edge of the dome, its bow piercing through the dome's painted sky. An awe-struck Truman then discovers a flight of stairs nearby, leading to a door marked "EXIT". As he contemplates leaving his world, Christof speaks directly to Truman via a powerful sound system, trying to persuade him to stay and arguing that there is no more truth in the real world than there is in his own, artificial world. Truman, after a moment's thought, delivers his catchphrase — "In case I don't see you... good afternoon, good evening, and good night" —, bows to his audience and steps through the door and into the real world. The assembled television viewers excitedly celebrate Truman's escape, and Sylvia quickly leaves her apartment to reunite with him. A network executive orders the crew to cease transmission. With the show completed, members of Truman's former audience are shown looking for something else to watch.

China's Manhattan Knock-Off Aspires To Be Bigger And Better Than The Real Thing

    By Wade Shepard

“You are building Manhattan,” I joked with a group of construction workers in what is becoming Tianjin’s new financial district. He nodded his head and smiled as we stood together, peering out at a tight phalanx of half built skyscrapers that now command a tight bend on the Hai River, one tick from the East China Sea. There was no jest here though, this wasn’t a joke, this was for real: he really was building Manhattan. Well, a Chinese version of it anyway.

Apparently not content with allowing New Yorkers to remain the sole beneficiaries of their city, a group of enterprising developers and government officials have engaged upon the most extensive and ambitious knock-off in human history: the creation of a Manhattan themed financial district — in China. The bounds of geography, culture, and history are no match for this rising superpower which takes architectural designs and urban layouts from around the world like plucking fruit from a tree.

Why go to the Big Apple when we can bring the Big Apple to us?

The Chinese version of Manhattan’s business district (FiDi) is called Yujiapu (于家堡;), and it is slowly arising out of the heart of Bīnhǎi New District (滨海新区;), which itself is a new area of Tianjin, a provincial level municipality 85 miles from Beijing. In 2008, an ancient fishing village was swept off the face of the earth and a forest of skyscrapers were planted in its place. Scheduled for completion in 2019, Yujiapu isn’t just a copy of Manhattan’s FiDi, but is set to be even larger than the original. At 3.86 sq km in area, it is to become the “largest single financial center on the world.” So not only is this a colossal knock off, it’s a colossal development in its own right.

When finished, Yujiapu and the area across the Hai River immediately adjacent to it is slated to provide 15.2 million square meters (164 million square feet) of office space. Though larger in surface area, Yujiapu only intends to offer a little over a third of Manhattan’s business capacity.

Perhaps not content with copying handbags and mobile phones, the Chinese are replicating entire buildings, villages, and now, entire city districts. Hallstatt, a near exact copy of the Austrian hamlet of the same name, has now opened to visitors in Guangdong province. Shanghai is reenacting its colonial past and has built entire new districts designed to look like England, Paris, Germany, Holland, and Sweden, respectively. Even the relatively insignificant city of Taizhou has their own British knock-off town. Huaxi, dubbed the world’s richest village, has not allowed itself to be undone by other copycats, and has made an entire theme park of knock-off landmarks from around the world.

Though Yujiapu is something that has never been done to this extent before: the DNA of an entire district of a city has been replicated and given life on the opposite side of the globe. The Atlantic reported that, “The miniature city is a near facsimile of New York–down to the river wrapping around the peninsula’s southern tip.” The Rockefeller Center is in the process of being cloned, and there is an identical pair of skyscrapers going up that very much resemble the twin towers of the original World Trade Center.

But these plans were not half-baked in some shady corner of a half-rate, cut and paste architectural sweatshop; no, China has called in teams of bona-fide first stringers for this game. The Rockefeller Center replica and Yujiapu Twin Towers are being handled by Yinfeini Property, the China side subsidiary of Tishman Speyer — the architectural firm that built the original World Trade Center and are currently in the process of completing 1 WTC. The Rockefellers are likewise not standing idly by as a copycat of the building that bears their legacy is being erected in China; nope, their Rose Rock Group is helping mint Yujiapu’s centerpiece: a 588 meter high tower that will be even taller than 1 WTC, which itself is set to become the tallest building in the western hemisphere. The Lincoln center is also in the fray, helping design Yujiapu’s performing arts center. So not only is Yujiapu being built to resemble Manhattan, it is being built by some of the same firms who made the original.

This all sounded to me like something out of a Vonnegut novel, and I have to admit that I could not shake the feeling of suspended reality as I crossed a bridge and passed through the skyscraper gates of Yujiapu. I found myself in an entire city that was in the process of coming to life. Work crews were racing here and there, up scaffolding, down freight elevators. It was like being among a colony of ants building up a concrete nest all around me. The grey, fixture-less, concrete skeletons of skyscrapers rose over dirt roadways, and at each turn these towers of bones continued on and on. Their sides were speckled with dark, windowless cavities, and the effect was like looking upon a stack of skulls lining the path to some heart of darkness.

Everything in sight was in the process of being built, there were no temporal bearings anywhere, this entire city was morphing and changing as I watched. This rising colony of finance was remarkable. I’ve been in new cities in China that were in the process of being built before, but I’ve never experienced anything on this scale. These were massive skyscrapers, not mere high-rises. In fact, one of these fledgling towers will someday be one of the largest structures on the planet. What I was looking at was a live-action snapshot of something historic in the making — something which seems to represent the rise of China as a whole. Yujiapu is slated to be one of this country’s prime financial centers, and its incredible scale and scope provokes the same worn questions to be ask:

    Yujiapu Twin Towers

Is this a historic success story in the making?

Is this a historic flop waiting to happen?

Whatever the case ends up being, a monument is in the works at Yujiapu: a spindly, concrete one that should give us a dose of deja vu.

“This is the key project of all our projects in China,” a partner at Luo Si Luo Ke (The Rockefeller Group’s Chinese subsidiary) told CNN, “at the moment, no other project is more important than this.”

In early March of this year, the news program “60 Minutes” released a report declaring that construction at Yujiapu had ground to a halt. My visit was mere weeks after this report aired, and their take couldn’t have been further from the truth. Yujiapu is not stagnant, it is rising steadily, piece by piece, floor by floor, tower by tower. Though I have to admit that the construction did not seem to be going full tilt, and the amount of workers that I observed did not appear adequate for completing a city of this magnitude anytime soon. But the fact remains that Yujiapu has not been abandoned, it has not been deserted, it is still being actively constructed.

  • The Last Trapper (Le Dernier Trappeur)

Come to the Yukon territory and see what God called good. Stand in awe at the creation and the life of the last trapper. It will inspire your soul.

For over 20 years, Nicolas Vanier, an untiring voyager in the coldest of climes, a veritable Jack London of modern times, has criss-crossed the wildest regions of the far northern lands. His travels include major expeditions in Siberia, Lapland, Alaska and of course Canada, where he recently undertook an incredible White Odyssey: 8600 kilometres covered with a team of sledge dogs, from Alaska all the way to Quebec. It was during that crossing, on the floor of a sumptuous and inaccessible valley in the Rocky Mountains, that Nicolas met the man who inspired him to make this film, a film that has lived within the man..

He's a 50-year-old trapper named Norman Winter, and he lives with a Nahanni woman, Nebaska. Norman has always been a trapper, with no need of the things that civilisation has to offer. He and his dogs live simply on what they produce from hunting and fishing. Norman made his sledge, snowshoes, cabin and canoe with wood and leather that he took from the forest and that Nebaska tanned, in the traditional style, just like the Sekani did in early times, using the tannin in animal brains, then by smoking the skin. To move around, Norman uses his dogs. They're quiet, and with them he's ready for action at the slightest sign of life, but all the while attentive to the majestic grandeur of the territories he passes through. That's why Norman Winter is a trapper. The Great North is inside him and Nebaska carries it within her, in her blood, for the taiga is the mother of its people...

Norman and Nebaska know that a land only lives through its intimate links with the animals, plants, rivers, winds and even colours. Their wisdom comes from the deep and special relationship they enjoy with nature. When Norman Winter follows an animal's trail, he studies it for a long time, to understand the animal's exact perception of its environment. He knows how to free himself from the immobile image that a land evokes, then to "enter" it by comprehending what it is. To understand that is to sense the unmistakable breathing of the earth, it's to understand why Norman Winter is the last trapper and why he turned his back on modern life, that he compares to a slope we slip down blindly. Norman is a sort of philosopher convinced that the notion of sharing and exchange with nature is essential to the equilibrium of that odd animal at the top of the food chain: Man.

That's what this film, made over 12 months, will present, overlaying treks on horseback during the Indian summer and by sledge in the depths of winter, a canoe ride down a raging river at the bottom of a majestic canyon and attacks by grizzly bears and wolves...

As he entered St. Peter's Square to address an audience on 13 May 1981, Pope John Paul II was shot and critically wounded by Mehmet Ali Ağca, an expert Turkish gunman who was a member of the militant fascist group Grey Wolves. The assassin used a Browning 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, shooting the pope in the abdomen and perforating his colon and small intestine multiple times. John Paul II was rushed into the Vatican complex and then to the Gemelli Hospital. On the way to the hospital, he lost consciousness. Even though the two bullets missed his mesenteric artery and abdominal aorta, he lost nearly three-quarters of his blood. He underwent five hours of surgery to treat his wounds. Surgeons performed a colostomy, temporarily rerouting the upper part of the large intestine to let the damaged lower part heal. When he briefly regained consciousness before being operated on, he instructed the doctors not to remove his Brown Scapular during the operation. One of the few people allowed in to see him at the Gemelli Clinic was one of his closest friends philosopher Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, who arrived on Saturday 16 May and kept him company while he recovered from emergency surgery. The pope later stated that Our Lady of Fátima helped keep him alive throughout his ordeal.

Could I forget that the event in St. Peter's Square took place on the day and at the hour when the first appearance of the Mother of Christ to the poor little peasants has been remembered for over sixty years at Fátima, Portugal? For in everything that happened to me on that very day, I felt that extraordinary motherly protection and care, which turned out to be stronger than the deadly bullet.

Ağca was caught and restrained by a nun and other bystanders until police arrived. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. Two days after Christmas in 1983, John Paul II visited Ağca in prison. John Paul II and Ağca spoke privately for about twenty minutes. John Paul II said, "What we talked about will have to remain a secret between him and me. I spoke to him as a brother whom I have pardoned and who has my complete trust.″

On 2 March 2006 the Italian parliament's Mitrokhin Commission, set up by Silvio Berlusconi and headed by Forza Italia senator Paolo Guzzanti, concluded that the Soviet Union was behind the attempt on John Paul II's life, in retaliation for the pope's support of Solidarity, the Catholic, pro-democratic Polish workers' movement, a theory that had already been supported by Michael Ledeen and the United States Central Intelligence Agency at the time. The Italian report stated that Communist Bulgarian security departments were utilised to prevent the Soviet Union's role from being uncovered. The report stated that Soviet military intelligence (Glavnoje Razvedyvatel'noje Upravlenije), not the KGB, were responsible. Russian Foreign Intelligence Service spokesman Boris Labusov called the accusation "absurd". The Pope declared during a May 2002 visit to Bulgaria that the country's Soviet-bloc-era leadership had nothing to do with the assassination attempt. However, his secretary, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, alleged in his book A Life with Karol, that the pope was convinced privately that the former Soviet Union was behind the attack. It was later discovered that many of John Paul II's aides had foreign-government attachments; Bulgaria and Russia disputed the Italian commission's conclusions, pointing out that the Pope had publicly denied the Bulgarian connection.

A second assassination attempt was made on 12 May 1982, just a day before the anniversary of the first attempt on his life, in Fátima, Portugal when a man tried to stab John Paul II with a bayonet. He was stopped by security guards. Stanisław Dziwisz later said that John Paul II had been injured during the attempt but managed to hide a non-life-threatening wound. The assailant, a traditionalist Catholic Spanish priest named Juan María Fernández y Krohn, had been ordained as a priest by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre of the Society of Saint Pius X and was opposed to the changes made by the Second Vatican Council, claiming that the pope was an agent of Communist Moscow and of the Marxist Eastern Bloc. Fernández y Krohn subsequently left the priesthood and served three years of a six-year sentence. The ex-priest was treated for mental illness and then expelled from Portugal to become a solicitor in Belgium.

The Al-Qaeda-funded Bojinka plot planned to kill John Paul II during a visit to the Philippines during World Youth Day 1995 celebrations. On 15 January 1995 a suicide bomber was planning to dress as a priest and detonate a bomb when the Pope passed in his motorcade on his way to the San Carlos Seminary in Makati City. The assassination was supposed to divert attention from the next phase of the operation. However, a chemical fire inadvertently started by the cell alerted police to their whereabouts, and all were arrested a week before the Pope's visit, and confessed to the plot.

In 2009 John Koehler, a journalist and former army intelligence officer, published Spies in the Vatican: The Soviet Union's Cold War Against the Catholic Church. Mining mostly East German and Polish secret police archives, Koehler says the assassination attempts were "KGB-backed" and gives details. During John Paul II's papacy there were many clerics within the Vatican who on nomination, declined to be ordained, and then mysteriously left the church. There is wide speculation that they were, in reality, KGB agents.

    Banco Ambrosiano scandal

Pope John Paul was alleged to have links with Banco Ambrosiano, an Italian bank that collapsed in 1982. At the centre of the bank's failure was its chairman, Roberto Calvi, and his membership in the illegal Masonic Lodge Propaganda Due (aka P2). The Vatican Bank was Banco Ambrosiano's main shareholder, and the death of Pope John Paul I in 1978 is rumoured to be linked to the Ambrosiano scandal.

Calvi, often referred to as "God's Banker", was also involved the Vatican Bank, Istituto per le Opere di Religione, in his dealings, and was close to Bishop Paul Marcinkus, the bank's chairman. Ambrosiano also provided funds for political parties in Italy, and for both the Somoza dictatorship in Nicaragua and its Sandinista opposition. It has been widely alleged that the Vatican Bank provided money for Solidarity in Poland.

Calvi used his complex network of overseas banks and companies to move money out of Italy, to inflate share prices, and to arrange massive unsecured loans. In 1978, the Bank of Italy produced a report on Ambrosiano that predicted future disaster. On 5 June 1982, two weeks before the collapse of Banco Ambrosiano, Calvi had written a letter of warning to Pope John Paul II, stating that such a forthcoming event would "provoke a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions in which the Church will suffer the gravest damage". On 18 June 1982 Calvi's body was found hanging from scaffolding beneath Blackfriars Bridge in the financial district of London. Calvi's clothing was stuffed with bricks, and contained cash valued at US$14,000, in three different currencies

The CIA also used these banks as conduit to funnel money in concert with the Solidarity Trade Union in the communist era in Poland. That was the primary reason behind the London 7/7 plot. Victim Giles Hart on the bus was instrumental in the movement of said funds. He was knighted in Poland and murdered in London like Calvi.

    Bucegi Mountains

The Bucegi Mountains (Romanian: Munții Bucegi [ˈmunt͡sij buˈt͡ʃed͡ʒʲ] ( listen); Hungarian: Bucsecs-hegység) are located in central Romania, south of the city Brașov. They are part of the Southern Carpathians group of the Carpathian Mountains.

To the east, the Bucegi Mountains have a very steep slope towards the popular tourist destination Prahova Valley (a.o. Bușteni and Sinaia). At a higher elevation is the Bucegi Plateau, where wind and rain have turned the rocks into spectacular figures such as the Sphinx and Babele.

The Bucegi is believed to be the Dacian holy mountain Kogainon, on which the God Zalmoxis resided in a cave.

Chilling, but a fantastic representation of mind control and how it works. If everything you were taught (programmed) was a lie, then you would fit well in the dystopian world. The truth always sets us free of course. That's why we must pursue it. The end run is there is no 'island.' Some have used paradise or heaven as the island. Some use fearless leaders of whatever age. The bottom line is will you fall for ir or escape? Here at the Cafe we emancipate ourselves from the programming. Do not adjust your set. It's the ride of your life.

    Welcome to THE ISLAND!

Aborted human fetuses harvested to grow kidney organs in rats for transplantation into human patients

The Island is a 2005 American science fiction action thriller film directed by Michael Bay, starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. It was released on July 22, 2005, in the United States, and was nominated for three awards, including the Teen Choice Award.

It is described as a pastiche of "escape-from-dystopia" science fiction films of the 1960s and 1970s such as Fahrenheit 451, THX 1138, Parts: The Clonus Horror, and Logan's Run. The film's plot revolves around the struggle of Ewan McGregor's character to fit into the highly structured world he lives in, isolated in a compound, and the series of events that unfold when he questions how truthful that world really is. After he learns that the compound inhabitants are clones who are used for organ harvesting and surrogate motherhood for wealthy people in the outside world, he escapes.

In the year 2019, Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta live with others in an isolated compound. Their community is governed by a set of strict rules. The residents believe that the outer world has become too contaminated for human life with the exception of one island. Every week a lottery is conducted and the winner gets to leave the compound to live on the island.

Lincoln begins having dreams that include memories that he knows are not from his own experiences. Dr. Merrick, a scientist who runs the compound, is concerned and places probes in Lincoln's body to monitor his cerebral activity. While secretly visiting an off-limits power facility in the basement where his friend, technician James McCord, works, Lincoln discovers a live moth in a ventilation shaft, leading him to deduce that the outside world is not really contaminated. Lincoln follows the moth to another section, where he discovers that the "lottery" is actually a disguise to remove inhabitants from the compound, where the "winner" is then used for organ harvesting, surrogate motherhood, and other purposes for each one's sponsor, who is identical to them in appearance.

Merrick learns that Lincoln has discovered the truth, which forces Lincoln to escape. Meanwhile, Jordan has been selected for the island. Lincoln and Jordan manage to escape the facility, where they emerge in an Arizona desert. He explains the truth to her, and they set out to learn the truth of their world. Merrick hires Burkinabé mercenary Albert Laurent to hunt them down, and explains that he needs the clones conscious in the compound, as otherwise their organs inevitably fail.

Lincoln and Jordan find McCord in a bar based on a matchbook Lincoln found in his pocket. Returning to his home, McCord explains that all the residents of the facility are clones of wealthy and/or desperate sponsors, who are kept ignorant of the real world and deliberately designed not to be curious about the outer world. McCord gives them the name of Lincoln's sponsor in Los Angeles, and helps them to the Yucca railway station, before being killed by the mercenaries. Jordan's sponsor, model Sarah Jordan, is in a coma because of a car accident and requires transplants from Jordan to survive. Lincoln's sponsor, Tom Lincoln, explains some of the situation, causing Lincoln to realize that he has gained Tom's memories. Tom agrees to help Lincoln and Jordan expose the truth about the organ harvesting, but secretly informs Merrick about the situation by telephone. Merrick sends the mercenaries to their location, but Lincoln tricks Laurent into killing Tom, allowing him to assume Tom's identity.

Merrick, having realized a cloning defect was responsible for Lincoln's memories and behavior- resulting in him and every generation of clone after him having the potential to question their environment and even tap into their sponsor's memories- decides to eliminate the four newest generations of clones to prevent this from happening. Lincoln and Jordan, however, plan to liberate their fellow clones. Posing as Tom, Lincoln returns to the compound (allegedly so that a new clone can be created) in order to destroy the holographic projectors that conceal the outside world from the clones. Jordan allows herself to be caught so that she can assist Lincoln. With help from Laurent, who has moral qualms about the clones' treatment after witnessing their fight to survive and learning that Sarah Jordan may be too injured to survive even with transplants from Jordan, Merrick is killed and the clones are freed, seeing the outside world for the first time. The film fades out with Lincoln and Jordan sailing off in a boat together.

Music industry insider Tila Tequila was exposing the dark secrets of Illuminati mind control and manipulation of the public to her fans in various messages and tweets.Pause this video if you have to and read the statements that she made about the Illuminati. Many of us are aware that the Illuminati control the music industry but it's very eye opening to hear what someone working deep within the industry has to say. Even if you don't buy into the idea that her brain aneurysm was directly caused by the Illuminati the information she provides is still invaluable.

As a matter of course I stay a million miles away from pop culture as you may have guessed. I don't follow new music. All the modern 'stars' are completely unknown to me. My son advised me of this story. There is a long death list of many others they took out over the years. The girl comes clean. There are other videos of her revelations. They include cloning and ritual child abuse. I have little doubt as to her sincerity. All I can say is you have to change the channel. It is the only option to stop them from turning you into mind control slaves. However, it is your choice.

Tila Tequila 'Nearly Died' After Brain Aneurysm & Drug Overdose

    First Posted: 03/ 6/2012 12:33 pm Updated: 03/ 6/2012 5:42 pm

Tila Tequila had a brush with death following a brain aneurysm, reports RadarOnline.

The former star of "A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila" was released from the hospital on Monday after a weeklong stay.

According to a source, Tequila, 30, suffered a brain aneurysm in the middle of the night, and to cope with the pain she took two bottles of "unspecified heavy prescription drugs."

"Tila threw up all over her bed after overdosing and felt like she was dying. She was screaming for help, and in desperation, broke her bedroom window and attempted to jump out," revealed the source, who added that a friend came over after receiving texts and found her convulsing on the bed.

"It was terrifying for Tila and death was knocking at her door," the source told the website. "She was in two hospitals for the span of a week and is still not in perfect health, so she's going to check into an outpatient program."

According to RadarOnline's source, the reality TV personality may have some permanent brain damage and still isn't able to speak properly.

Other reports say the overdose wasn't accidental. According to TMZ, Tila's roommate told police that Tila had "tried to kill herself all week." And there was more drama after she was released from the hospital on Monday; Tila's manager was worried something was wrong and called 911. TMZ reports that cops went to check on the reality star and she refused to answer the door. She reportedly called 911 to find out why officers were at her home and explained that she couldn't answer the door because she was in a wheelchair.

Tequila, who rose to fame as a MySpace celebrity before getting her own MTV reality dating show, has been displaying erratic behavior since her former fiancee Casey Johnson passed away from diabetic ketoacidosis in March 2010.

Soon after Johnson's death Tequila announced she was going to be a surrogate for her brother and his wife, before announcing she suffered a miscarriage and had thoughts of committing suicide.

In May 2010, she announced she had a prescription pill problem and would appear on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab 4" to address the issue, but later dropped out of the show, with her reps claiming she never officially signed on.

More recently, Tequila, who says she suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, claimed her Twitter page was "hacked" by her alter ego Jane, who, she described on her MySpace page as "crazy" and someone who "always wants to kill me."
