Russian's border guards do not comment on the issue.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine says Russian border guards are removing their posts on the Ukrainian administrative border with Russian-annexed Crimea.
Aide to the chief of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service's media liaison office in the Azov-Black Sea region Maksym Soroka told RFE/RL's Krym-Realii media project that on February 14, the Russian border guards were dismantling their post in front of the Chonhar checkpoint.
The posts earlier deployed in front of the Kalanchak and Chaplynka entry/exit checkpoints had been removed before, he said.
According to Soroka, the Russians were removing the posts that were in close proximity to the Ukrainian checkpoints, but the Russian checkpoints on the administrative border with Crimea continue to function.
The Ukrainian border guards do not know the reasons for that move.
"It does not affect the work of the Ukrainian services in any way. The Ukrainian entry/exit checkpoints on the administrative border with Crimea are working in normal mode," he said.
There are no official comments from the Russian border guards on this issue.
It was reported earlier that the Ukrainian police would strengthen security on the administrative border with annexed Crimea. Deputy Chief of Ukraine's National Police Viacheslav Abroskin announced that a new security system would be similar to the one that operates in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas, eastern Ukraine. It provides, among other things, for the deployment of roadblocks on the administrative border.
It's to make the targets discernible for the tanks that are going to roll across the border.
