THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT

The memory hole is so deep and so vast that even an attempt on the life of the president elect in Miami in February of 1933 has pretty much been consumed in it. How fortunate while watching the old TV series The Untouchables on DVD we got to see The Unhired Assassin. The show was remarkably accurate in a depiction of the classic unbalanced lone gunman with a grudge shooting at the president elect. We link both parts above for your perusal. You see the assassination as an art is well understood by aficionados like myself. We understand the necessity of the role of the patsy and the deep, dark complexity of master criminals and their plots. We know our history and connect our own dots. We recognize that there are no coincidences and the one in a billion odds imply complicity not chance. So we start the time machine and travel to Miami on February 15, 1933. It is almost 80 years now lest we forget.

The Mayor of Chicago, Anton Cermak, travelled to Miami to make amends with the president elect Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He didn't support him in the Democratic convention from the start. He was coming hat in hand for a bailout package for unpaid teachers. In the Untouchables he was portrayed as an honest guy. That is most likely TV fiction. In reality he was most likely a competing crime boss like the rest. Crime author Ronald Humble alleged that Cermak was trying to rub out gangster Frank Nitti. News legend Walter Winchell who was there at the time believed Mayor Cermak was the intended target and not Roosevelt. That was long before the 'C' word conspiracy held any negative connotations. We would tend to support Walter's opinion with some bizarre coincidences.

A text book master assassination requires a patsy to prevent the real perpetrators from ever being considered never mind exposed. The job falls to what we understand to be the mentally deranged popularly called Manchurian candidates today. Giuseppe Zangara was no exception. In the show you see him seething with anger about the rich and powerful stopping by the pawn shop to stare at the .32 caliber pistol in the window. Known as Joe he got by with no visible means of support. Or had the masterminds floated him the money? He had terrible pains in his abdomen that could only be relieved by shooting the president. At first the Untouchables say it was Hoover. Then after the election he switched to FDR. He kept the newspapers with FDR's picture as his Queen of diamonds. It was reported he tried to kill King Emmanuel ten years before. He was a made man it appears on the short list for assassins.

The president elect was travelling with his newly established brain trust leader Raymond Moley a law professor at Columbia University. The term brain trust is a very unique term for shadow government. You would think they were a kindly bunch of advisors to the president the man the people picked. Moley wrote FDR's speeches up to 1936. He coined the term New Deal. He was there on that February night too. He was in a car with Vincent Astor of the infamous money trust. His father was killed on the infamous RMS Olympic popularly known as the Titanic. The battles between the money trusts were deadly wars with real casualties. The Astor's bankrolled the Roosevelt machine. FDR spent his days on Astor's yacht Nourmahal. They joked about fishing.

While driving into the kill zone, Moley and Astor were openly discussing the risks of assassination on open streets. The problem with open cars and streets is the words can get out and the bullets can get in. This is one of those one in a billion odds that throw light on the ultimate untouchables the power establishment. Moley has another even more bizarre perhaps one in a trillion odds history. He was at the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. There are many parallels that include a lone unbalanced shooter with a small pistol getting past security. That shooter, too, acquired a newspaper to focus on and determine the location of the president.

Zangara could have been induced to shoot in the very manner the Manchurian Candidate was. You see an instant before the shots rang out a man approached the delegation with a very large telegram. Like the large Queen of diamonds it may very well release the trigger in the patsy's eyes. It served a twofold purpose because if there was a second shooter as the Untouchables implies, he wasn't a school book depository one. He was most likely close up and personal. The large telegram could have provided concealment. The other means of concealment were the incessant pop and flash of the camera's flash guns. To the younger crowd that is a strange anomaly.

You see it is easy if you know how and these people know how. The 'C' angle implies it was Cermak all along that they wanted to kill. Zangara was the patsy who was executed the next month. FDR was adamant about his cabinet and associates. They had a special informal committee to exclude the FRBC (For Roosevelt Before Chicago) democrats. They weren't even allowed to be mentioned. He had his own people to be the chosen ones. The mayor of New York was turfed. The broom swept well. Eleanor Roosevelt remarked, "These things are to be expected." That is a loaded statement if the conspiracy existed. The wounded Cermak collapsed in FDR's arms. He was loaded into his car and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The driver lurched forward at the moment of the shots. FDR told him to remain. The final billion to one shot was Moley attended the interrogation of Zangara. His role was to ensure there was no other involvement of other persons. That should well be the case in a 'conspiracy.' He performed his task well. Considering FDR was still president elect and not sworn none of his agents held any 'official' capacity. Moley was on the National Commission on Law Observance and Enforcement. Bureau of Investigation man and rising assassination conspiracy man J. Edgar Hoover was a contributor.

So from the unwitting suggestion of Robert H. Gore, the publisher of the Fort Lauderdale Daily News an assembly of people changed history. It is amazing how history repeats. We have a media publisher in Florida sending a president elect to a rendez vous with destiny. His name was Gore. Years later a Gore was claiming to be president elect in Florida. Then another publisher through his wife rented rooms for a man who changed America and a great part of the world. The man was Mohamed Atta. It is a small world after all. Roosevelt never spoke of the matter again. He sailed on the Nourmahal every year.
