Conspiracy theory blogs are making claims that the recent meteor impact event in the Islamic Republic of Iran “devastated” parts of the country, but NASA and the Western media are covering up the truth to prevent panic ahead of the “Big One” — the asteroid impact apocalypse event that doomsday theorists say will occur on September 23.
According to reports in the conspiracy theory blogosphere, the scant coverage of the Iran meteor impact event by the Western media gives the false impression that it was a minor incident. However, according to conspiracy theorists, local sources say that the destruction wreaked by the meteor impact was “on an unimaginable scale.”
Conspiracy theorists say that silence by NASA and the Western media is proof of an impending asteroid impact apocalypse and evidence that the authorities cannot be trusted to inform the public about the danger ahead.
The Daily Sheeple argues that the focus on the Iran nuclear deal and Cecil the Lion is distracting attention from the real news.
“All eyes are on Iran right now because of the Iran Nuke Deal… or are they?
“As previously reported, that whole thing is likely theater. It usually is. America is the only nation that’s ever used nuclear weapons anyway in 70 years.
“So while attention is diverted talking about the nuke deal and Cecil the Lion or whatever, is anyone mentioning that a meteor impact (actually multiple impacts) hit Iran just a few days ago?”
According to a July 31 report by the Azerbaijani Trend News Agency, the Iranian authorities confirmed that the Avaj province in the northern part of the country suffered multiple meteor impacts.
Mohammad Ali Ahani, director of the Qazvin Crisis Management Staff, reportedly told the Iranian Mehr News Agency that the main body of the meteor landed in Avaj in the province of Qazvin.
Arsalan Qasemi, governor of Boeen Zahra in the Qazvin Province, also reported separate but smaller meteor impacts in Eshtehard, in the Alborz Province.
While the Trend News Agency report is silent about the extent of the damage caused by the impact, conspiracy theory blogs are making unsubstantiated claims of damage on an “unimaginable scale.”
Conspiracy theory blog the Daily Sheeple wonders why there is “deafening silence” from NASA and the Western media about the meteor impact event in Iran.
“Local sources are talking and the claim is destruction on an unimaginable scale.
“Even if that’s not the case, where is NASA on this? Why haven’t they announced it or reported anything on it?
“Why the deafening silence?”
The Watchers claims that the meteor caused “serious damage in Qazvin,” a town located near the capital Teheran. According to the blog, Iranian newspaper reports confirmed that the meteor was “very large” and that it “affected several towns.”
Some blogs compared the impact to the February 15, 2013, Chelyabinsk incident.
Many readers of the alarming reports on conspiracy theory blogs took the unsubstantiated claims of “damage on an unimaginable scale” seriously.
One apparently terrified reader wrote, “Please pray people, people please pray, pray people please.”
“This story appears to have been stuffed into a closet. But… here in this 21st century where ALL information is under official control, we shouldn’t be a bit surprised. George Orwell… you were late, but absolutely right.”
Others were skeptical.
“If the Iranian news vid (see video below) was actually for THIS event, then there was no big event, no death, no destruction, nothing else to report. Reporters and the ‘experts’ don’t smile and laugh when there is a tragedy as these did. Nothing but a small meteor exploded and a debris field…”
A message by the conspiracy theorist Lisa Haven warns that the meteor strike in Iran is a harbinger of the Big One and warns Christians to be ready for the coming of the Antichrist.
According to Haven, the meteor impact is linked to an ancient Islamic prophecy from the Hadith discussed in an Arabic book titled Asr al Zahoor.
The prophecy says that the coming of the Muslim “Mahdi,” or “Savior,” will be preceded by a meteor impact. The Muslim Mahdi, according to Haven, is equivalent to the Christian Antichrist.
“A star with a luminous tail will rise from the east before Hazrat Mahdi (as) emerges.” (Al-Barzanji, Al-Isha’ah li-ashrat al-sa’ah, p. 200)
“Before he arrives, a comet will appear in the east, giving out an illumination.” (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar, p. 53)
“The star’s rise will occur after the eclipse of the Sun and the Moon.” (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi, p. 32)”
Haven claims that many Muslims believe that the latest meteor impact which follows a major eclipse in Europe and the blood moon fulfills the sign of the coming of the “Mahdi.”
