There was a littla action outside my place Saturday night. A little after midnight I was awakened by an explosion. It was quite the KABOOM. This was a deep blast unlike fireworks. As I got up to look out the window, there was another one. There was a flash with it. It took out all the hydro as far as the eye could see in every direction. We prepared ourselves to bug out just in case. I called the Fire Department to report the incident. They're across the street, and they weren't deploying. The dispatcher asks me how I know it was an explosion. KABOOM. Then there was a third. What do you think? You must have heard it. Then the lights start flashing at the fire hall. We have a late night meet the neighbours in the dark.
It turns out that the hydro transformers in the area blew up. The miracle is they restored the power in about 2 hours. It feels nice to have a battery backup for the essentials. All my old camping stuff was well kept for future use when the need arises for a longer session. Our power lines are umbilical cords. When something happens we're back to the stone age almost. Being an old boy scout serves you well. BE PREPARED!
